Answers To Some Questions You May Have

Where do these photo sessions usually take place?

Anywhere.

That's the simplest answer. I love it when clients have a location in mind. Your home, a park or beach that has a special story or memory behind it...a hiking trail that you frequent often. The location will usually set the tone and mood of the pictures. The city corner outside your office where the bride and groom met...a city urban feel. A sprawling field where your family has their weekly Sunday picnics...a beautiful country theme. If you're not sure, I can also help you choose.

When do I get to see my pictures?

The waiting period varies on the number of proofs in your package. The average waiting period is 10-14 days after your session. Then you will be able to view proofs, low-resolution, watermarked images in an online gallery. You can use this gallery to share your day with family and friends, especially those who may not have been blessed to attend. You can then order prints of your favorite images for yourself or as beautiful gifts for friends and family to cherish always.

What are proofs?

You're allowed to view your proofs in an online album, so you may be wondering what proofs are. Think of them as previews. They allow you to see the selection of images from your session and choose the ones you love. The only way proofs differ from the original images is that they are low-resolution versions. Resolution refers to the quality. The original images are high resolution that can be enlarged to wall size photographs without any loss of quality. The proofs have just enough resolution to ensure web quality but are not meant for printing. Watermarks, or logos, are protection for my images to help diminish the likelihood of them being copied and used by third parties without my knowledge or permission. Of course, your prints will be watermark free.

Do all the images from my session make it to the proof album?

Only the best will. Your session will go through rounds of selection. Blurred, over or underexposed, and repetitive images are deleted. I'm just like anybody you know with a camera...I'm sure I'll eventually catch you with one eye closed, maybe mid-yawn or in the middle of that facial expression that your loved ones call the "elvis snarl" while I'm clicking away. I will select the best from each pose and setting. And I offer as much as a variety that represent my artistic eye and ones that will appeal to my client.

Why is there a 10-14 day waiting period to see the pictures?

We study aperture, shutter, ISO, WB balance, and focal length to paint your pictures beautifully with light. That is just the first step. We use professional editing programs to deepen colors, brighten whites (hey, it sounds like a laundry commercial now), soften backgrounds, and enhance details. Professional photographers can deliver a beautiful images straight out of the camera (SOOC).

And, still, we can use our time and post-processing to go from beautiful to stunning.

What is a digital image?

You can order prints but you'll also see an option to purchase a digital image/negative. By law, the image will always belong to the person who took the photograph regardless of who or what is in the photo. By buying prints, you are buying printed copies of that photograph. However, if you are just in love with a certain image and want more options for use, I recommend the digital negative/image. You'll receive the jpeg image with a release that allows you to print copies on your own.

Coming soon: Soon, I will be offering the option to purchase a CD of proofs to use for facebook and myspace.

What is the best ages to have my baby photographed?

Here is an excellent reference for this question:
http://annamyersphotography.typepad.com/annas_blog/2008/08/best-ages-for-professional-baby-and-infant-photography.html

From my own experience, there advantages to each stage in their life and depends on milestones.

Newborn Sessions: Up to 10-14 days old. This age is ideal because they are such heavy sleepers (especially right after a big meal). And we will be able to achieve a great variety of cute poses while they dream away.

3-4 months:
Milestone:
Holding head up
lots of smiles

6-7 months:
Milestone:
Sitting up
Oh, this is my favorite age to photograph babies. When they can finally sit unpropped but aren't able to crawl away. Absolute joy to capture. Once they start crawling, I transition from passive observer to crazy running-rolling around girl with a camera to chase after them. Whoo, it's a great workout.

10-11 months:
Milestone:
Standing up
